Anita Dobson
Anita Dobson is the longtime wife of legendary guitarist, Brian May –best known as the lead guitarist of English rock band, Queen.
Anita’s husband has been a key member of one of the world’s biggest rock bands –along with late singer Freddie Mercury, bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor.
Born in London on July 19, 1947, May is also a singer, and songwriter, whose many hits include the 1975 song “Bohemian Rhapsody.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
In addition to his success as a musician, he studied mathematics and physics at Imperial College London and earned a PhD. He went onto serve as the Chancellor of Liverpool at John Moores University, from 2008 until 2013.
In his lifetime, he’s been married twice; first to Chrissie Mullens –with whom he had three children, daughters Louisa and Emily; and a son, James May.
The two were married from 1974 until their divorce in 1988. His second and current wife is the lovely, Anita Dobson.
Anita Dobson was born April 29, 1949; the London native has made a name for herself as a stage and screen actress. She is perhaps best remembered for playing the fiesty and fearless Angie Watts in the BBC soap ‘EastEnders’. Anita who is also a singer, reached the UK Singles Chart with “Anyone Can Fall in Love.”
Dobson trained in theater at London’s Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. She began her acting career at Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre, where she played a witch in Macbeth and Mariane in Moliere’s Tartuffe.
In addition to her role on the popular British soap opera EastEnders, she had recurring roles on television’s Gigglebiz and Causality. She appeared in various theatre productions including Frozen at The National Theatre, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award. Back in 2011 she was also tapped to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.
Anita and May go way back, the two met in the late 80’s and it’s said that she was his inspiration to write the hit, “I Want It All.” The couple became husband and wife in 2000, after 12 years of courtship, becoming an official stepmom to Brian’s three children.
