31-year-old Originally from Jamaica Renel Rene Richardson was sentenced to two years after he and other man identified as Ralph Ragin stole a shipment of 3,240 iPads from Kennedy Airport. Renel’s role in the $1.9 million worth of iPad Mini tablets steal consisted on serving as the lookout while the tablets were unloaded from a cargo flight from China.
He was able to achieve this because Richardson was employed by Cargo Airport Services on Nov. 12, 2012 when the heist went down! the worker at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport is alleged to have asked his co-workers for details about the nearly two-million-dollar shipment and how he might go about acquiring a forklift prior to the big steal.
Richardson was arrested by federal agents a few days later. The stolen iPads apparently remain missing, even after Richardson accompanied investigators on a trip through Long Island Wednesday night in search of the vehicle used in the theft.
He could have kept his mouth quiet right! But Richardson was caught because he had made suspicious inquiries earlier with regard to the Cargo Airport Services shipment of the IPads in question. Along with two accomplices, Richardson managed to steal 3,600 iPad mini tablets. Ironically, the theft occurred at the same cargo building that was the site of the 1978 Lufthansa heist featured in “GoodFellas.”
We don’t many more details about him but we did find a MySpace profile with his name and picture above. Richardson’s possible Relatives include: Aziza Richardson, Pamela R Richardson, Rena Richardson; most likely they all must be pretty embarrassed right now to be related to this guy.
Renel tried his luck going after probation but it wasn’t happening after judge ruled airport workers can not only steal good but also are in charge of the safety of those who fly!
See him on MySpace here.
