Steve Jobs died last October, but his memory lives in the lives off all the people who knew him, in the mazing things he invented and that we use everyday, but for many Steve Jobs continues to live in the lives of his beloved family his sisters (Mona and Patty), wife Laurene and children, one of them is his only son Reed who looks amazingly like him, Shall we learn more about this young man?
Steve Jobs’ 57th birthday is tomorrow February 24, this will be the first year his family will not be celebrating with him, the world, his colleagues, I till find hard to believe he is gone, but not entirely or not ever, I guess what I am trying to say is that in every tech lover there is a Steve inside, I can see it in my nephew, loves all computer released especially Apple, every birthday he ask us for money to save up to buy something from the Apple Store, so I also have a little Steve close to me. I bet you do too.
Steve died on October 5th after 8 year battling cancer, his dear son Reed saw his father struggle, no wonder when at age 18 he was participated at a Quiz Kids competition in San Francisco he said he hope to be an oncologist. Reed was a senior at that time, and tried to go incognito so instead of using his real name Reed Jobs he used his mom’s Powell. His proud father watching in the audience also tried to go incognito, but his trademark turtle neck shirt sort of gave everybody a clue.
In order to tell you Reed Jobs’s story, we should start with his parent wedding on March 18th, 1991 at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park beautiful ceremony presided by a Zen Buddhist monk Kobun Chino Otogawa.
Reed Jobs Powell was born in September 1991 in Palo Alto, his father named him after his beloved college Reed, although he attended for one semester, but continued to attended some classes. Reed sister Erin Seinna was born in 1995 and Eve in 1998.
Reed and his father had a special relationship, but different from the one his father had with his sisters, or so did his biography book tells
“Jobs developed a strong relationship with Reed, but with his daughters he was more distant. As he would with others, he would occasionally focus on them, but just as often would completely ignore them when he had other things on his mind. ‘He focuses on his work, and at times he has not been there for the girls,’ Powell said. At one point Jobs marveled to his wife at how well their kids were turning out, ‘especially since we’re not always there for them.’ This amused, and slightly annoyed, Powell, because she had given up her career when Reed turned two and she decided she wanted to have more children.”
Reed went to Crystal Springs Uplands High School, he graduated last year, his father severely ill was there to see that special moment, his aunt Mona Simpson, recalled that moment too.
None of us who attended Reed’s graduation party will ever forget the scene of Reed and Steve slow dancing.
Steve also expressed his happiness about Reed{s high School graduation..
“Today is one of the happiest days. Reed is Graduating from High School. Right now. And, against all odds I am here”
Young Reed Jobs Powell is now a 20 year-old sophomore student at Stanford where is part of the Fencing team and looks forward to get his major in history and biology, like he previously said he aspires to work in medicine or education.
Like his parents Reed is a very smart, dedicated, kind and loving young man, but his smile can quickly put one in your face.
