An incredible survival story! This is one of those “see to believe” kind of stories; a young student from NY was thrown on the track of an on coming train, was struck and is still breathing! The starring role of the victim?
21-year-old Maya Leggat; she attended White Plains Senior High School and is currently a student at CUNY Hunter.
Maya was standing on the northbound platform, according to authorities; of the White Plains station at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday when a 39-year-old homeless man came up from behind and shoved her just as an empty sack of potatoes into the station! Why? Allegedly because she wouldn’t give him any money.
Family members said
“She’s gonna need multiple surgeries on her leg — it could take months.” “She also has a head injury. She’s cut up pretty bad.”
Can you picture the horror movie witnesses saw? Her leg was mangled and she might have lost some fingers according to commuters at the station. Still conscious she was rescued by MTA cops.
Maya a resident from White Plains, New York was born August 23, 1992; she is possibly related to Dharma Leggat and Robert Leggat.
After she was struck by the train on Wednesday morning, the girl was rushed to Westchester County Medical Center, where doctors tried to repair a severed artery in her leg; she spent the night in surgery and was listed in critical condition, but luckily is expected to survive.
The man who pushed her onto the tracks was identified as Howard Mickens who has 11 previous arrests! He was charged with attempted homicide.
There is little information about Leggat but we did find out she likes Tiramisu, is a cat lover and also likes to “sell things” She is also part of the Facebook group Cool Gay People Hall.
Her message on twitter is “Finding happiness is the wisest thing you can do”
