No question, whatsoever, the luckiest guys in Dearborn, Mark and Cindy Hill are the big winners of Missouri’s winning Powerball ticket.
The Hills will go to a news conference this morning around 11 A.M. at North Platte R-1 High School. They must be driving at this moment to the Missouri Lottery Headquarters located in Jefferson City to collect their winnings.
The couple live in Dearborn is a small town of 495 people. It is around 35 miles north of Kansas City, the home of the Royals baseball team. They won when they matched the 6 numbers that were supposed to win 50% of the $587.5 million jackpot. Anyway, $293.7 million, is a fortune! It’s remarkable to know that Missouri is the state that has won most of the jackpots in 2nd place all around America.
The Hills are farmers. All their children are grown up but their smallest girl still lives with them.
Missouri is truly a lucky state! Two more winners of $1 million prize are residents of the state. The tickets were sold at the Sun Fresh on NE Vivion Road, and the other at a Casey’s in Joplin.
When the Hills found out the news of their new fortune, Cindy exclaimed:
I called my husband and told him, I think I am having a heart attack. I think we just won the lottery!
The other half of the ticked was sold in Arizona. After Cindy left her daughter at school, she went to check at a convenience store for the winning numbers. She went to her car again and voila! She had bought 5 tickets and one was the winner!!! Cindy drove to her mother-in-law’s house and asked her to double-check cuz she couldn’t believe herself what was going on! Mark, also joined her there.
The Hills said:
You know it’s the Show Me State (Cindy)
Show me (Mark)
It’s funny what Cindy told her daughter the night before the big surprise of their lives:
I was just telling my daughter the night before, Honey, that probably never happens (people winning).
The couple are just starting to figure out how will they spend all that money. Cindy used to be an office manager but got fired in 2010; Mark works as a mechanic for Hillshire Brands.
After they won they are thinking to adopt twice. Mark wants to buy a red Camaro and also want to take their daughter to the beach so she could fulfill her dream of going there.
She also wants a horse and they will buy it in a future. Cindy says:
In a couple of years, I’d say yes.
They plan to retire and travel.
Cindy posted this in FB after winning:
Thank you God, we won the lottery.
