Her full name is Deborra-Lee Furness was born in December 8, 1955 in Australia.
She graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in 1981.
She co-founded The Rafiki Society in Vancouver, that helps orphanages in Africa.
She adopted 2 kids and founded the National Adoption Awareness Week in Australia, and is in charge of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation in her country. She helped with the adoption laws in Australia.
She is also the patron of the Lighthouse Foundation for displaced children in Melbourne Australia, the Bone Marrow Donor Institute for children with leukemia, and the International Adoption Families for Queensland. She belongs to the Film Aid International, working with refugees. She constantly travels to Cambodia and Ethiopia to assist with raising awareness and funds.
She married Hugh Jackman on 11 April 1996 in Toorak, Melbourne. They met on the set of Australian TV show Correlli. After suffering two miscarriages, they adopted two children: Oscar Maximillian (born 15 May 2000) and, Ava Eliot (born 10 July 2005).
