Meet Carl Wu! He is the photographer who ran over Hollywood star Nicole Kidman with his bike! Wu appeared to hit the brakes but didn’t stop in time outside the Carlyle Hotel on the upper East Side knocking the 46-year-old actress down at the impact just as she was returning from the Calvin Klein show at New York’s Fashion Week.
Nicole was undoubtedly angry, saying she wanted to press charges against the allegedly reckless photog.
Cops arrived and she had no visible injuries, but they did give Carl a ticket for riding on the sidewalk.
The 19-year-old freelance paparazzo started his career early; according to an article a couple of years ago, he started taking pictures of the stars when he was seventeen, at the time Carl would grabs his camera and take the passenger seat of his friend’s smart car at 2:00 A.M in the morning to get a good picture.
He describes the work that goes behind getting a good picture-his mission- as his “adventures” and he just might be right, when you nock the shoe out Oscar winner Kidman can be quite the adventure!
Carl is one of the youngest paparazzi to get his pictures published in major tabloids such as OK! Magazine. His pictures sell for as much as $5,000. His first job as a paparazzi came when he was 14 and his friend got him a job with the photo agency Insight News & Features.
He had a rough start choosing this “line of career” at the beginning loosing school and not being respected by his older peers but to him, it was all worth it. Wu has also worked for Fame Pictures and says his job is “mad cool” He says being a paparazzi is a great job, however when he’s older he sees himself doing other kinds of photography.
