Is not always all bling and pretty dresses at Beauty pageants’, and you can hear that from the 2013 Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf.
Wolf, 19, who was crowned Miss Teen USA on Saturday at the Atlantic hotel in the Bahamas is a Cali blond who won against 51 other contestants.
After being named Miss California, Wolf traveled to local schools near her home in Temecula to speak with students about protecting themselves from potential cybercrime, but why you ask?? Easy, because she revealed she was victim of a cybercrime herself!
The newly crowned has already big plans for her one-year reign, due to her frightening experience with this awful type of felony she is hoping to continue spreading awareness of the dangers of online crime.
“This all happened before I had a title,’’ “I was just a normal girl in high school. This next year I’m just so excited to be able to share my story and raise awareness in young teens about what can happen.”
What happened to Wolf could happen to anyone out there with a webcam! The incident is now in the hands of federal investigation so she can not reveal to much but she did said that about four months ago she received an anonymous email and this person said, he/she had pictures of her taken in her room via webcam and thus it was trying to extort the teen!
Cassidy first was tipped through Facebook that someone had tried to log into her account from another state. Later she received the email by the hacker, who promised to keep her photos out of the public, if she paid a sum of money!
Some of Wolf’s tips to keep others from being cyber attacked are clear their browsing history routinely, change the passwords and put a sticker over the webcam when is not in use.
“I had the same password for years,” “But now seeing that someone can hack into my stuff just by downloading an incorrect link, it’s very important to change your passwords, delete your cookies.”
Wolf took the right step to bring this horrible invasion of privacy down, the name of the person can not be revealed due to the ongoing investigation but now he/she would think twice huh!
