“Different Strokes” actor Conrad Bain has died in Livermore, California on Monday night, at age 89. He will now join Monica Sloan, his ex-wife who already passed away.
He was the father figure Phillip Drummond at the series. He is survived by a daughter and three sons.
His daughter Jennifer says:
He was an amazing person. He was a lot like Mr. Drummond, but much more interesting in real life. He was an amazing father.
Bain`s B-Day would have been on February 4.
Monica Marjorie Sloane, an artist,on September 4, 1945 she got married Conrad and he became a naturalized U.S. citizen the following year. The couple had three children: Kent, Jennifer and Mark.
She gave birth to her first child Kent now 62 on June 15, 1950, he currently lives in Stratford, CT and is director at ARI. Then on March 28, 1952 Monica welcomed her second child Mark, now 60 and living in Carmichael. On November 24, 1955 she was blessed with the birth of her third and only daughter Jennifer Bain now 57.
She was a wonderful woman, painter, mother and wife. Monica was a lovely and vibrant woman, and an incredible painter.
She showed extensively in galleries, her daughter, Jennifer is also an amazing artist.
Monica used to bring her watercolor set and some paper, when the family went to the beach. On one of those trips with relatives and friends, she painted a beautiful picture of the coast as it stretched to Point Dume. She signed it and gave it as a present to a girl named Shelley.
She recalls:
I can’t remember a Thanksgiving without you at the “Grown-Up” end of the long table, cracking everyone up. Thank you for being a role model for living an authentic, passionate life. Thank you for your art.

Monica and Conrad remained together until death. The great romance people lived during the 40`s lasted an eternity. Note that when this couple got married, divorce or separation was out of question for Americans.

Monica was born on August 17, 1923, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and died in a hospital, at Pleasanton, California on February 26, 2009. She left her husband Conrad after 64 happy years of marriage, her daughter Jennifer, two sons, Kent and Mark, and their respective spouses. A maker and devotee of splendor, Monica looked at this world through magnificently affectionate and inspired eyes. She was a born a lively visual artist all through her existence. Her permanent gifts will be frequently remembered and deeply missed by all who have known and loved her. Monica Bain died on 26 February 2009.
