Lisa Brennan Jobs- Steve Jobs' Daughter

Reminiscing on Steve Jobs death, we found ourselves thinking about his loved ones. That’s why we want to share with you a closer look in to the life of Steve Jobs’ eldest daughter Lisa Brennan Jobs. Check her biography below, you can’t miss it!

34-year-old Lisa Nicole Brennan Jobs was born May 17, 1978. She is the eldest and first daughter of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Bay Area painter Chrisann Brennan, Steve’s childhood sweetheart.

When Lisa was born Steve Jobs was 23 and we all know how he initially refused to acknowledge her, but a court-ordered DNA test determined that he was indeed Lisa’s father.

Interestingly, Jobs gave Lisa’s name to an Apple computer! Cool huh! The Apple Lisa computer was invented the year she was born just after two years Steve had co-founded Apple. But Jobs and the company claimed that the name was an acronym for Local Integrated Software Architecture. Years later he stated the name was of course after his daughter.

It wasn’t until 1986 when Lisa finally met her father, although awkward at first the relationship father-daughter improved over time and the two later forged a strong bond that ended up in Steve’s invitation to live with him as a teenager. Then he paid for her to go to Harvard University (class of 2000), where she cultivated her interest in writing.

Having weathered her complicated upbringing and now living in New York as a professional writer, Lisa now 34 is an accomplished journalist with credits including The Southwest Review, The Massachusetts Review, Spiked, and O, The Oprah Magazine. She also writes essays for her personal blog. In an article for the February 2008 issue of Vogue called “Tuscan Holiday,” she touched on her “illegitimate” childhood growing up with her mother:

In California, my mother had raised me mostly alone. We didn’t have many things, but she is warm and we were happy. We moved a lot. We rented. My father was rich and renowned and later, as I got to know him, went on vacations with him, and then lived with him for a few years, I saw another, more glamorous world. The two sides didn’t mix, and I missed one when I had the other.

Now that Steve is gone:

Lisa used to call his father “silent propeller”

“It wasn’t until really he passed away that we all as kids and my mother realized how much he really had an effect on the family,” “And while he wasn’t involved on a kind of day-to-day basis, when I think of whom I am today and who my brothers and sisters are, so much of it is thanks to my father.”

Jobs was in fact a silent force that kept the family together, imbuing his children with a strong work ethic and allowing them to find their own path in life, encouraging them to follow their dreams.
