At noontime President Obama will be naming Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough to be his next chief of staff. Kari McDonough, his wife, must be very proud of this achievement.
Obama is selecting one of his favorites and Kari’s husband has been a well-liked figure since the Senate days.
McDonough is replacing Jack Lew, who has been designated as Treasury secretary.
President Obama will make the announcement at 12:10 p.m. in the East Room of the White House.
McDonough served from September 2009 as Chief of Staff of the National Security Staff. Previous to that job, McDonough served as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications. McDonough served as a senior advisor on foreign policy issues on the Presidential Transition Team and on President Obama’s 2008 campaign. Preceding to that, he was a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. He also worked in Congress, including as Foreign Policy Advisor for Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle. McDonough graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn., and has a master’s from Georgetown University. A local of Stillwater, Minnesota, McDonough now lives in Maryland with his wife Kari and three children: Addie, Liam and Teddy.
Kari must be used to the protocol of the White House so this is no surprise for her. Her husband has worked for so long in politics that this lifestyle to her must be something of a daily basis. Her kids must be slightly different as his buddies from school because they have to be more jealous of their private lives, due to security reasons.
Anyways, we hope Karis’ husband the best wishes on his new job and he we are sure that he will be doing a good role despite some people that might not agree on his point of view but we live in America, a land of freedom where nobody is discriminated over their preferences and in this case, their political affiliation.
